ALLEN, Lenore Marjorie (Grose) 

March 29, 1937 ~ June 8, 2021. (Father Edgar Grose 1998/Mother Gertrude Adamson 1982) Born and raised in Peterborough, Veteran Scouter/Teacher, Lenore Allen (Grose), has ‘Gone Home’ in her 84th year. She passed away peacefully at home with her loving husband and boys by her side. Lenore lived life to its fullest and was full of vitality, patience, and joy for helping others and making sure everyone was safe and well cared for. Beloved wife of Arnold Allen for 54 years of marriage and Mother to Jeffrey Allen and Matthew Allen. Sister of Arlene Grose (Richard Kearns). Aunt to TrudyAnn Kearns-Ritter, Steve/Brad Allen (Bob/Barb Allen). Cousin to Karen Grose. Proud and loving Grandmother to Kylie, Landon, Keaton (Jeffrey Allen/Jody Carr) and Simon (Matthew Allen/Jennie Millard). Lenore loved life, teaching others, Scouting, working with the All Saints Church, and giving back to the community through volunteering with many organizations in Peterborough. Lenore and Arnold were inducted into the Peterborough Pathway of Fame for Community Betterment in 2009. Both served with Scouts Canada in Peterborough/Kawartha Waterways for 65 years. Lenore also served as a teacher in Peterborough for 35 years where she taught grades K-13 as well as serving as Academic Director at Auburn Vocational and Professor at Teachers College. Lenore has touched so many lives throughout Peterborough and abroad with her generous heart, courageous spirit, and spark for adventure. Her spontaneity for travel has taken Lenore around the globe and across Canada, coast to coast, with her family many times. She was always excited and prepared for camping excursions with family and friends and quality time spent at Timberlanes, the family wilderness retreat. There are also so many lifelong friends to mention, whose support and fond memories will live on with the family. Hugs to you all. A special family thank you to the Saint Elizabeth Health Care team of doctors, nurses, and PSWs, who provided such dignified and gentle care of Lenore. A private family ceremony will be held at Little Lake Cemetery with Reverend Samantha Caravan officiating.
