My life would not have been as it was without my beautiful wife, Anne, whom I leave behind. From the farm in South Monaghan to our retirement home in Colborne, she was the light that lit the path through our many years together.
I also leave behind a fantastic daughter, Lynne, her husband Terry Tiernay of Mississauga along with two beautiful Grandchildren, Lindsay and Joey. I was predeceased by two very special ladies, my sister, Linda, in 1984 and my mother, Marian, in 1985, both taken far too early. Also, my older brother, Larry, who as well left us before he could enjoy his retirement years travelling around the world. I also leave behind two sons, Shawn Patrick Barker, of Ottawa, Andrew Clarke Barker of Peterborough and a brother Laine in Guelph.
Anne and I were able to witness some great sights and events together. From Paris, Rome and Venice, Prague, Nuremburg, Salzburg, Vienna, Amsterdam and Budapest lit up at night from our river cruise. We also shared the joy of Lynne's wedding day. Some of the greatest moments in my life were walking Lynne down the aisle and my beautiful wife, Anne back up the aisle and sharing the arrival and growing up of her children.
I spent my working life as a master carpenter following which I wore many hats over the years in my roles as grocery shopper, associate cook, snow removal expert, gardener, grounds keeper and maintenance man. I was happy to be able to have retired early and be on hand 24-7 to help Anne through her recovery of her two hip replacements. If you couldn't find me puttering in the workshop, tending the garden, keeping the family photo album up to date or keeping up with my interest in commercial aviation, I could be found in my chair with another good Clive Cussler novel.
I thank all the people who have passed through my life, you all added a piece to the jigsaw puzzle of my life that is now complete. My love for you, Anne, never wavered.
A Memorial service for Lorne will take place at HIGHLAND PARK FUNERAL CENTRE, 2510 Bensfort Road, Peterborough, on Friday, April 24, 2026, at 11 am with reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Northumberland Humane Society would be appreciated by the family.
