MILES, Lorne Cecil It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Lorne Cecil Miles, of Peterborough, age 82. He passed peacefully on September 8, 2025 in Kingston General Hospital, surrounded by his devoted wife and loving family.
Born on May 16,1943, Lorne was a son of the late Cecil and Opal Miles of Omemee.
Lorne will be remembered for his kindness, quick wit, and endless wisdom. A hardworking man throughout his life, he proudly spent the majority of his working years as a highly skilled sheet metal worker at General Motors in Oshawa. After retiring, Lorne continued to pursue the passions that he developed early in life for travel, boating and antique cars. He spent many happy years traveling the world, roads and waterways with his beloved wife Linda and delighting when he could share a boat ride or spin in his old convertible with his children and grandchildren. As a longtime and active resident of Peterborough, Lorne’s presence will be missed at Lakers home games, antique car shows and the Mapleridge Recreation Centre.
Lorne will be dearly missed by his loving wife Linda, son Rick Miles (Stacey), daughter Laureen, step-daughter Judy Fleming-Farrell (David Farrell) and step-son Ken Fleming (Adele Gale). As Poppy or Grandpa, he will be missed by his adoring grandchildren: Tanner, McKenzie, William, Zack, Jessie, Megan and Kate, as well as three beautiful great grandchildren.
He is survived by his younger siblings Alan Miles (Mary) and Eunice Fairfield (the late Bob).
Family and friends are welcome to attend a Celebration of Lorne’s Life at Highland Park Funeral Centre, 2510 Bensfort Road, Peterborough on September 27th at 2:30 P.M. In lieu of flowers, donations in Lorne’s name can be made to the Arthritis Society Canada or the PRHC Foundation.
