Lynn Roberta Sansom

SANSOM, Lynn Roberta – November 13, 1960 – May 25, 2022 – Lynn passed away peacefully at Hospice Peterborough with her beloved daughters, Danielle and Deanna, dear friend Jess (Auchterlonie) and dear sister Gail Gauthier at her side.  She also leaves behind her dear partner Mike Darlington and a very large village of supportive friends who stood by her side throughout her cancer journey.  Lynn graduated from the School of Rehabilitation Therapy at Queen’s University, with a Degree in Occupational Therapy in 1983.  Lynn started her career at Wascana Rehabilitation Centre in Regina, SK.  She then moved to London, ON working as an Occupational Therapist at the Child and Parent Resource Institute.  She moved to Peterborough in 1989, to work in the Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Health Centre treating individuals recovering from a stroke. She then worked with the Acquired Brain Injury Team in the community. She was a tireless supporter of individuals with traumatic brain injury always working to maximize their road to recovery.  Lynn's last job was with Murphy Therapeutic Group where she continued her holistic practice. Throughout her career Lynn was always committed to mentoring future colleagues by supervising occupational therapy students and has participated in research within her field.  Over the years she has been involved with the Four Counties Brain Injury Association and the Family Resource Centre. Lynn had such a passion for so many things including, reading, travelling the world, sewing, baking, cycling, cross country skiing and sailing on Lake Ontario with her partner Mike and dog Maggie.  Lynn was always ready to lend others a helping hand by bringing them food, doing their mending, babysitting their children; always using her many talents to ease the lives of others.  We are blessed to have known her and will forever be better for it.  She left us too soon and will be deeply missed.  A Celebration of Lynn’s Life will be held on Saturday, June 11^th, 2022 from 1 – 4 PM, with eulogies at 3 PM, at HIGHLAND PARK FUNERAL CENTRE, 2510 Bensfort Road.  In keeping with Lynn’s wishes, please wear bright colours!  Donations made to Hospice Peterborough, Brain Injury Association of Peterborough and Region or Sleeping Children Around the World would be greatly appreciated.  Online condolences may be made by visiting www.highlandparkfuneralcentre.com.
