CHAGGARES, Margaret Rose “Margie” (nee Westfall)
A beautiful light has dimmed for the family of Margaret Rose Chaggares, who died at the Peterborough Regional Health Centre on Saturday, February 8, 2025, peacefully, holding the hand of her husband. The family had lost her physical presence, but we have so many wonderful memories of the love she gave to us.
She will be forever in our hearts and minds. She leaves behind her soulmate and much-loved husband of 53 years, Nick, her beloved sons Chris (Kelly), and Robbie (Jennie), of whom she was so proud, her special son Greg, her sisters Beverly McKee (Jim), and Patty Bush (Al), her wonderful grandchildren, Ben, Sean, Natalie Barker (Britain), Noah, Jaryn, and Jonnie. She was predeceased by her mother and father Phyllis (nee Groulx-Foley) and Lorne Westfall, her brother Robbie, her sister Sheila, and her grandson Nathan.
Margie chose and kept in strict order the priorities of her life her husband, her marriage, her children, her church, her music and her family.
Margie was an entertainer who loved to perform and a performer who loved to entertain. She was a superb musician who worker under her maiden name Marg Westfall: from country singer to a lounge piano/vocalist, convention entertainer, big band singer and much more. She was blessed with great beauty and talent. She sang in her church, played the organ, and often times led the choir, all with great joy. Our home was filled with her music and dedicated love of family.
The family is so grateful for the loving care provided by the nurses and doctors of the PRHC Palliative Care Unit, and the wonderful loving care provided by the staff of St. Joseph’s at Fleming LTC Home.
Margie Lived the last 2 years of her life with Alzheimer’s, complicated by a damaging fall requiring 2 brain surgeries. Her death freed her of a debilitating existence.
Friends will be received at the HIGHLAND PARK FUNERAL CENTRE, 2510 Bensfort Rd., Peterborough on Thursday, February 20, 2025 from 1:00-4:00 and 6:00-9:00 PM. Cremation to follow.
A Celebration of Margie’s Life with family and friends will be held a later date when finalized.
In memory of Margie, and in lieu of flowers, donations to the PRHC Foundation or the Alzheimer Society of Canada would be appreciated by a grateful family. Online condolences may be made at www.highlandparkfuneralcentre.com
