Margaret Ann Lightbody (nee Murduff)
June 25th, 1946 - October 27th, 2022
After living life to its fullest, Margie Lightbody passed away peacefully surrounded by those that loved her dearly. She will be joining at rest, her Trent University sweetheart, best friend, and love of her life Bob. Margie’s legacy and spirit will live on through her lifelong contributions to community starting as Head Girl and Cheerleading Captain at PCVS, through years of teaching at Adam Scott CVI, over 50 years of involvement with Trent University Board and Alumni, as a member of Survivors Abreast and Peterborough’s Dragon Boat Festival, the Osteoporosis Golf Tournament, PRHC Foundation Board and the Closer to Care Campaign, The Peterborough Bridge Club, and the Riverpark Village Social Committee.
Margie was well-known for showing her love of family and friends through memorable traditions including delicious meals - daughters Deborah (Sandy Keay) and Dr. Tamara Lightbody (Rick Murdock) will treasure and carry those traditions on. She maintained her status of Cheerleader as proud “Grammy” to Adam and Thomas Keay, and Ellie and Lucas Murdock.
She will be deeply missed by her sister Donna (Don Dickinson), niece Judy (Brett) and their family. Sister-in-law to the late Margaret (Gordon Robb), she will always be remembered as “Auntie Margie” to Cathy (Rob Paterson), Susan (Paul Riedlinger), Janet (Neil Craik) and all the cousins along the Irish Coast of Monck Lake.
In gratitude for the kindness and caring provided to Margie by all the nurses and staff, donations may be made to Hospice Peterborough.
Memorial Services will be held at Highland Park Funeral Centre. Visitation will be held on Friday, November 11th from 2:00 - 4:00pm and 6:00 – 8:00pm. The Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, November 12th at 3:00pm.
