Margie (Jordan) Baxter

With hearts full of both gratitude and sorrow, we announce the passing of Margie Baxter (née Jordan) on April 7, 2026.

Margie was the beloved wife of Terry Baxter, cherished mother of Michael (Jacqueline) Baxter, and proud Nana to Emmett Baxter. She was a loving second mother to Dean (Gina) Baxter and a treasured sister, aunt, and friend to so many whose lives she touched.

Born on September 13, 1954, in Toronto, Ontario, to Michael and Marg (née Ryan) Jordan, Margie spent her early years in Toronto before moving to Peterborough in 1992, where she built her family and community.

Margie will be remembered for her kindness, compassion, and incredible sense of humour. Her genuine care for others was evident in both her personal and professional life. Through her work with OPSEU, where she served as an administrative assistant to numerous department heads, she contributed to the labour movement with dedication and pride. Her generosity extended far beyond her career, as she gave her time and support to those in need through charitable donations, volunteer work, and countless quiet acts of kindness.

Margie cherished her winters in Florida, often filled with visits from family and friends. When she wasn’t hosting, she made sure to stay connected—especially through her regular Sunday phone calls.

She had an infectious, deadpan sense of humour and an ability to bring light to any situation. Her smile could brighten even the darkest days. Margie will be deeply missed, but her warmth, positivity, and kind spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

The family extends a sincere thank you to the staff at Peterborough Regional Health Centre for their exceptional care and compassion.

Visitation will be held at Highland Park Funeral Centre, 2510 Bensfort Road, Peterborough, Ontario, on April 13 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., followed by a service at 1:00 p.m. A reception will follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the St. Vincent de Paul Society would be appreciated.
