Passed away suddenly, but peacefully, at Peterborough Regional Health Center on September 4, surrounded by the love of his family at the age of 63.
Born March 21, 1962 to parents Bill & Rose. Mark was the beloved husband to Heather. Loving father to Shai Byers (Brett) and Emily Gorrill (Ryan Miles). Proud, adoring Papa to Lennon Byers, Ellie Miles, Braxton, Zachary, Elsa, Millie & Cece Bibeau. Fondly remembered by Lacey & Jackson Bibeau. Cherished big brother of Catherine Butcher (Dave) and Peter Minaker. Loving Uncle to Joshua, Caroline and Rachel Butcher. Caring Brother-In-Law to Susan McDonald (Cam), Sandra Jack (Ernie Ellement) and Mike Jack (Shannon Russell) and Mark is fondly remembered by all of their families. Heartbroken and missing him deeply are his two fur babies, Mack & Kenzie. Mark was predeceased by his parents, Bill & Rose Minaker, and his Mother-In-Law, Donna Bayley.
After growing up in Peterborough, Mark moved to Lindsay after graduating from Fleming College to begin his career at Royel Paving. He was passionate about anything to do with road construction; from bidding on a tender to being on site paving a road with the crews. The smell of fresh asphalt was always his favourite smell. He spent most of his career at Royel Paving and made many lifelong friends from his years there.
In 2019, he began working at Fidelity Group of Companies as an estimator. He loved the challenge of bidding on tenders and it was something he excelled at. He felt instantly welcomed into the Fidelity family and made many friendships in his time there.
Mark was an extremely proud long time member and Secretary/Treasurer of the Peterborough County & City of Kawartha Lakes Public Works Association, an organization his father was a member of as well.
Mark always put everyone first. His greatest joy in life was being a Dad and a Papa. He was always so proud and full of joy when he spoke about all of the kids. Family was always the most important thing to him. He loved the simple things; sharing snacks and watching “The Wiggles” with his two youngest granddaughters or watching the older grandkids jump in a freshly raked piles of leaves in the fall, lunch dates with Shai and BBQ’ing in the rain (which was inevitable whenever he fired up the BBQ). His happy place, as he called it, was a slow morning at the trailer, sitting by the campfire, drinking his coffee, wearing his tye dye crocs, and having his dogs and his wife Heather by his side.
In keeping with Mark’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Peterborough Humane Society would be greatly appreciated.
