SALMANS, Martha “Martie” Kay (nee Breeden)
Peacefully on Saturday, January 11, 2025 at Hospice Peterborough in her 73rd year. Beloved wife of 52 years to Don Salmans. Loving mother of Wayne Salmans, and Chris Salmans and his wife Amy. Cherished grandmother of Gideon, Maddox, Keza, Hudson, Hadley, Levi, Emma, and Heidi. Dear sister of Effie Smith (late David), the late Margaret Presley (John), Paul Breeden (Cathy), Mark Breeden (Kippy), Mary Hester (late Mike), and Don Kelley (Jane). Predeceased by her parents Homer Lee Breeden and Edith May (nee Edgell) Breeden.
Martie’s trust in and love for the Lord Jesus Christ was evident throughout her life. She loved her family dearly and found great joy in spending time with her grandchildren. Martie was a loyal and thoughtful friend, and kept close connections with many friends over the years from near and far.
Martie was a committed employee of Christian Horizons for almost 20 years, embracing her work as a missional calling. She had a servant’s heart and cared deeply for those in need, whether in a professional capacity, at Edmison Heights Bible Chapel, or her community.
Friends will be received at the HIGHLAND PARK FUNERAL CENTRE, 2510 Bensfort Rd., on Tuesday, January 14 from 12:00-2:00 PM and 6:00-8:00 PM. A celebration of Martie’s life will be held on Wednesday, January 15, 2025 at FERNDALE BIBLE CHURCH, 25 Ferndale Ave Peterborough at 1:00 PM. Reception to immediately follow at Ferndale.
In memory of Martie and in lieu of flowers, donations to FBH International, Hospice Peterborough or a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family. As a family we wish to express our gratitude to the staff and volunteers at Hospice Peterborough who cared for us so well in Martie’s final days. To our community of family and friends, thank you for the ongoing love and care you have offered over this past year.
John 11:25 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in Me will live even if he dies”.
