Marti Patricia (Somerville) OLIVIERI B.Sc. RN
With heavy hearts, we say goodbye to our darling Marti - devoted wife to Oliver and loving, dedicated mother to Hunter, Hudson, and Berkley. Oliver will be forever grateful for her love, acceptance and belonging. Marti passed away with grace and courage at the age of 44, at Hospice Peterborough on November 25, 2024. She was surrounded by the family and friends who loved and supported her.
Marti achieved her B.Sc. in Nursing at Trent University and excelled during her 19-year career in Peterborough Regional Health Center’s Emergency Department and Cardiac Cath Lab. She loved her work. Patients and colleagues alike recognized a very kind, welcoming, and skilled caregiver. Even in the chaotic ER, she remained a calm, cool, and collected leader. Our family deeply appreciates the many expressions of love and admiration we have received from her colleagues.
Marti’s life was filled with loving relationships. She will be remembered as the treasured daughter and best friend of Heather Somerville, and the devoted daughter of David Somerville and his wife Judy. Marti and her brother shared an unbreakable bond. Jeff and his sister adored each other. Parents-in-law Susan Stevens and Carlo Olivieri, Aunt Bea Csumrik (predeceased) and Uncle Jim Somerville valued her warmth and kindness. Aunt Faye and Uncle Kevin McAlpine admired Marti’s fierce loyalty and tender soul. Andrew and Cameron (Jessi) McAlpine, Joe (Anjali), Deb, and Chris Csumrik, Alex and Cameron Somerville and their families will always remember her as a dear friend, who happened to be their cousin.
Our family sends special thanks to Dr. Becca Webster, Marti’s teams at Sunnybrook and Hospice Peterborough, and - for their medical expertise and loving friendship - Robin, Livy, and Nancy.
A private family service will take place followed by interment in Little Lake Cemetery. A public celebration of Marti’s life will be held at Highland Park Funeral Centre on Saturday, January 11, 2025, from 2:00 to 5:00, with eulogies and words of remembrance at 3:00pm. In her memory, donations to PRHC Foundation or Hospice Peterborough would be appreciated by her family.
