Mary Beth (Hall) Walsh

WALSH, Mary Elizabeth (née Hall) - entered into rest peacefully, surrounded by her family, at Hospice Peterborough on November 9, 2024, in her 65th year. Beloved wife of 41 years of Patrick Walsh. Proud mother of Allison (Justin) McMullan and Colin Walsh. Dear sister of Kathryn (William) Hutson, Richard (Maria) Hall, Sara Beukeboom, and Christine (John) Bongers. Cherished sister-in-law of Mary Anne (Gary) Shill, the late Barbara (Robert) Broad (2002), Frances (Denis) Gagne, David (Margaret) Walsh, and Michael (Theresa) Walsh. Predeceased by her parents Mary (2018) and Gerald R. Hall (1999). Will be lovingly remembered by her many nieces, nephews, and cousins. A treasured friend to many in Peterborough, Parry Sound, Lindsay, and beyond.

Born in Lindsay on September 3, 1960, Mary Beth obtained her nursing diploma from Ryerson Polytechnical Institute in 1981 and her Bachelor of Nursing Science from Queen’s University in 1991. She had a rewarding 39-year career as a registered nurse. In her free time, she enjoyed reading with her (multiple) book clubs, walking with good friends, cycling, golfing, curling, a good cup of tea, and knitting, many will treasure the socks, blankets, and sweaters she knit for them with love. 

Mary Beth was a survivor of non-smoker’s lung cancer for close to four years. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to Dr. David Carr, Dr. Becca Webster, the Cancer Care team at the Peterborough Regional Health Centre, the staff at Hospice Peterborough, and their family and friends for their care and support during her illness.

Family and friends are invited to call at HIGHLAND PARK FUNERAL CENTRE, 2510 Bensfort Road, Peterborough, Ontario, on Friday, November 22, 2024, from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM. Service to follow in the chapel at 1:00 PM. Reception in the Highland Reception Centre.  Interment later at Little Lake Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to Lung Cancer Canada or Hospice Peterborough would be greatly appreciated by the family.
