Michael Patrick Bencze

July 9, 1977 - December 29, 2024

Peacefully at PRHC with his devoted family by his side after living with cancer for nearly 8 years. Cherished son of Tom and Mary (Caban) and incredible brother to Tim and his wife, Morgan. Mike was also a very loving, supportive and involved “uncle Patrick” to his niece, Maren and nephew, Olsen. Pre-deceased by his grandparents, Don and Sheila Caban and Peter and Loretta Bencze. Mike will also be missed by a large number of aunts, uncles, and cousins, all of whom were very special to him. 

Mike will be remembered fondly for the dedication that he showed to his career, colleagues, and clients; something that he missed dearly in his final months. 

Along with so many other qualities, Mike also had an amazing sense of humour, an extremely kind heart, was sincere and authentic, often putting the needs of others ahead of his own. Mike’s laugh was infectious which made being around him so enjoyable. 

In his free time, Mike enjoyed hiking, strumming one of his many guitars, cooking, talking about cars and always had time to post a good meme. He also loved sending hilarious texts back and forth with his niece and arm wrestling with his nephew, finishing  his career with zero victories. 

He was so important to those that knew him and will be forever missed. 

As per Mike’s wishes, in lieu of flowers, please consider a gift to the PRHC Foundation - Mental Health Fund (Early Psychosis Intervention Program) or the children’s cancer foundation of your choice. 

Our family would also like to thank Dr. Jeyabalan, Dr. MacMillan-Jones and the staff of the palliative unit at PRHC for their incredible level of commitment. Mike was so lucky to be under your care. 

Friends and family are invited to join in honour of Mike at Highland Park Funeral Centre on Friday, January 3rd from 6-8 pm, with words of remembrance scheduled for 8 pm.
