Michael Vasiga

Vasiga, Michael – After a spirited stay at Peterborough Regional Health Centre on Sunday, November 25, 2018 at the age of 84. He would have rather been outside. Loving husband and dance partner of Mary Vasiga (nee Thompson) for 70 eventful years. Fantabulous father of Daniel (Cheryl Baillie), Joanne (Martin Proulx)  and the late Laurie (Michael McGuire) and the late Mary Jane. Adored by his grandkids, Cody, Brady, Behn, Simon, Sophia and Elise. Cherished brother of Mary Stevens (Larry), George (Nancy) and the late John (Mary). Mentor and friend to his nieces and nephews, former students, neighbours, and all who were lucky enough to cross his path. Youthful of spirit, strong of body, inquisitive of mind. Teacher, designer, builder, repairman extraordinaire. Storyteller, dancer, woodsman. Comfortable in his own skin, Mike was a creative man, moved by both beauty and pain. Loving. Generous. Tended to be bossy, but usually knew his stuff.  Friends and family are welcomed on Friday, November 30, 2018 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at the Highland Park Funeral Centre (2510 Bensfort Rd., Peterborough). A Celebration of Life and 85th Birthday Bash will be held at 2:30 p.m.  on Saturday, December 1, 2018 at the Highland Park Funeral Centre. Reception to follow. In memory of Michael, donations may be made to Doctors Without Borders or The Scott Mission.
