Mona (Sloan) Gaffney

GAFFNEY, Mary Mona (nee Sloan): Peacefully at Centennial Place Long Term Care, Millbrook on Thursday, January 7, 2021 in her 92nd year. Mona, beloved wife of the late Gerald ‘Doc’ Gaffney. Loving and devoted mother of Debbie Boulter (Brian, predeceased), John Gaffney, (Jean), Susanne Howes (Jerry), Karen Francis (Blaine), Patricia Smith (Brian), Peter (Kelley Sullivan). Cherished Grandmother of Charles, Anna, Hilary, Patrick, Nicholas, Brittany, Derek, Monica, Madison, Carson, Brennen, Chloe, Brazil, Esker, and Great Grandmother of Henry, Lincoln, Georgia, and Thomas. Remembered lovingly by many nieces and nephews. Dear sister of Florence Brady (Don). Survived by sisters-in-law Betty, and Agnes Gaffney, Eileen, Marie, and Louise Sloan. Predeceased by her sisters Rita, Madeline, brothers Joe, Tom, Pat, Gerald, and James Sloan, and in laws Veronica and Anthony Gooding, Agnes and John Gregus, Mary Gaffney, Tom and Barbara Gaffney, Oliver Gaffney, Don and Joan Gaffney, Grace and Joe Young, Betty and Gerry Holland, Harold Gaffney, Tommy Murray, and Ann and Fran Sloan. Daughter of the late James Sloan and Josephine Kale. Mona was a member of St. Peter’s Cathedral CWL for over 50 years. In her early years she worked at Beechwood General Store, the Department of National Defense, Arrow Shirts Factory, and T-Elle Boutique. She was a long time volunteer at Canadian Blood Services. Mona enjoyed line dancing, a good game of cards, as well as a round of golf. Her family would like to thank the compassionate staff of Centennial Place, Millbrook for the love and care shown to Mona these past nine years. Due to current health restrictions, a Private Mass for immediate family will be celebrated in St. Peter’s Cathedral. You may watch her Funeral Mass through ‘Zoom’, the address for which can be found on Mona’s obituary on the Highland Park website. Interment in St. Peter’s Cemetery.
