Obituary

Morley Eli Richard Bursey

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, Papa and Great-Papa at Hospice Peterborough. With his wife and daughters by his side and his favorite old country music playing in the background, Morley passed peacefully on Thursday, January 15th, on the 50th anniversary of his fathers death in 1976.

Morley was the loving husband of Beth and devoted father of Dawn (Pierre) Bergeron and Debra Bursey.

He was the proud Papa to Josh, Coulter, Corby (Lauren), Natalie and Ben. He was such a wonderful Papa, he was promoted to Great-Papa of McKinley, Misty-Anna, Daisy and Eli.

Morley was born in Victoria Cove, Newfoundland on March 18, 1946 to Gerald and Piney. He was the baby brother to five siblings- Norman (predeceased), Frances Cull and her husband Tom (predeceased), Emily Brinson and her husband Eric (both predeceased), Gladys Abigail and her husband Jack (predeceased) and Joan Brinson and her husband Francis. Morley will be missed by his many nieces, nephews and cousins in Newfoundland and Ontario.

At a young age, Morley ventured west to British Columbia and then to Sudbury and Peterborough where he met the love of his life, Beth. After making Cobourg their home, he worked for 25 years at Harnden King Construction. He then went on to a partnership and eventual sole-ownership of Buns Master Bakery in Cobourg. Morley and Beth eventually returned back to Peterborough, where their love story began.

Morley was a quiet man, a friend to all he met and he was always there for anyone in need. He was talented in many areas and if he couldn't fix something, it couldn't be salvaged.

Morley's family wish to thank Dr. Bartlett, PRHC, VON, St. Elizabeth's, the Palliative Care Team, Dr. L. MacMillan-Jones and finally the amazing and dedicated staff and volunteers at Hospice Peterborough whose care and compassion made his final days more comfortable.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Hospice Peterborough or the charity of your choice would be appreciated.

As Morley wished, cremation has taken place and there will be a small family internment at a future date.
