Murray passed away at the Peterborough Regional Health Centre on Monday December 29, 2025. Beloved husband of Elizabeth Ruth Hendren (nee Barrie) for 72 years. Dear father of Gregory (Cindy) of Brampton, and Elizabeth (Luc Roberge) of North Bay. Loving grandfather of Scott (Natasha), Shawn, Brigitte (Mathieu), Andre-Luc, and great grandfather of Avery, Benoit and Camille.
Murray was the son of the late Allan and Elsia Hendren. He is survived by his brother Douglas (Shirley). He is predeceased by his sisters Doreen (the late Allen Moore), Carolyn (the late Charles Smith), Josie (the late Arthur Richardson); his brothers Rodger (the late June) and Owen (the late Frances).
He is fondly remembered by his sister-in-law Catherine Barrie (the late Allan), and their family in B.C., as well as other nieces and nephews.
Murray enjoyed an interesting working career beginning at Fisher Gauge, followed by 36 years at Westclox.
He always liked to be busy with a project, and one of these was the cottage at Chandos Lake where he spent 50 happy years with family and friends. Murray was a faithful adherent of Park St. Baptist Church for many years.
As per Murray’s wishes, cremation has taken place.
In loving remembrance of Murray, a Memorial Visitation will be held on Saturday January 3, 2026, 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. at the Park Street Baptist Church, 16 Park Street North, Peterborough, ON.
If desired, donations to Canadian Baptist Ministries or the PRHC Foundation in memory of Murray would be appreciated by the family.
