Paul Evans Obituary

Husband to Hang, Father of Emily and Alecia, Son of Michael and Suzanne, friend of Stuart and many others, business partner/friend of Hai, brother of Simon and Michelle, Nephew of Samantha, David and Jill.

Paul's parents, Mike and Suzanne, did their very best to prepare Paul for this chaotic world.

Paul was very adventurous, and by the age of 20 he had already experienced quite the journey. He hosted massive pot parties in his psychedelic party room in Georgetown, who could forget the ten hose hookah pipe? He moved to the UK, once served the Queen at the Savoy hotel, got caught up with the Moonies, de-brainwashed back in Canada, and participated in a Katimavic adventure that took him across this vast land.

Seeking to quiet the mind, Paul made his way to Iowa to "fly around" in the meditative  "golden domes" of Maharishi International University", where he earned a degree in Business management.

Paul's demeanor was quiet and understated, yet his actions were deafening. He did not conform to societal norms, or immigration law for that matter. After graduating, Paul remained in Iowa where he built up a significant portfolio of investment properties and businesses, while at the same time continuing to deepen his meditation practices.

Eventually being forced to vacate the US, Paul made his way back to Ontario. He spent the next few years living a simpler life, focusing on his spiritual well-being. Wanting to share his passion for attaining "enlightenment", he organized an ongoing series of talks with spiritual gurus from around the world.

Have you ever left the big city to wander around in nature? Pretty tranquil, right? Well in his 40's, Paul decided to take this concept to the extreme. He left the hustle and bustle of Toronto, and relocated to a famous cave in India. He spent years there, meditating 12 to 16 hours a day, only leaving for some sleep and to eat his daily helping of rice...talk about making a commitment to the present moment .

Are you ready for the BIG plot twist?...Once a year, Paul was required to leave India to renew his visitors visa. He would normally spend his time away from India at an Ashram or Buddhist temple . That all changed in 2012 when he met Hang, a Vietnamese beauty that became the love of his life. They were the best of friends, and shared a crazy love. Hang and Paul have two beautiful daughters, Emily and Alecia, who they adore. Paul was the marketing director at an IT development start up that afforded the family the opportunity to explore Asia and create many cherished memories together. He will forever be with you. His spirit is looking through your eyes, and you are all one.

Immense gratitude to those who dedicate themselves to treating/supporting people battling for their lives. In our case, a special thanks and hugs to everyone at Kingston General Hospital working in the 9th floor cancer clinic and the 4th floor ICU. Please support and/or consider getting involved in cancer care initiatives in your community.

Life is unpredictable so embrace ️ this moment. You can never be out of its presence, even if it seems to be so.
