Paul Joseph Gilbert

Peacefully at PRHC with his family by his side on November 1, 2024. Beloved husband for 55 years of Jeannette (Rhéaume) Gilbert.  Cherished father of Pierre (Kristen), and Nicole (Robert). Loving grandpapa of Jennifer Gilbert also Olivia and Leilana Lewis. 

Predeceased by his parents Max and Helen (Moher) Gilbert, his sister Anne and brother’s-in-law Ron Cowling, Derek Wilson and Paul Fitzgerald.  Survived by his siblings John (Lillian), Peggy Fitzgerald and Imelda Collins (Frank), and many nieces and nephews.  Also survived by members of the Rhéaume family.

Paul worked hard as a machinist at the Westclox, Outboard Marine, J & J-Surgikos, and finished his career as a school bus driver and as a custodian for the PVNCCDSB.  Following his retirement, Paul and his wife Jeannette took travelling, sailing and camping for many years until his health deteriorated.  Paul was a devoted husband, father and grandpapa.  Being handy, he was able to help many people, friends, and neighbours.  He will be deeply missed by his family and those who knew him.

Visitation will be held at the HIGHLAND PARK FUNERAL CENTRE, 2510 Bensfort Road, Peterborough, on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, from 2:00 P.M. – 5:00 P.M.  Funeral Mass at ST. ANNES PARISH, 859 Barnardo Ave, Peterborough, on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, at 11:00 A.M., followed by a light luncheon.  There will be a private Interment with the family at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, donations to Kawartha Food Share or St. Vincent de Paul Society would be appreciated by the family.
