Obituary

Kilistoff, Peter Michael; Suddenly [KK1] at Peterborough Regional Health Centre on Thursday September 24, 2026, at the age of 79.  Beloved husband and soulmate of Diane Kilistoff (Collins) with whom he shared a life filled with love, laughter and lasting memories for 55 years.  Loving and proud father of Kristen Kilistoff.  Dear brother of Mary Anne Walker (Terry), Paul Kilistoff and Patricia Plant (John).  Brother-in-law of Carol Skeoch.  Also remembered by many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and many friends.

A perfectionist with an offbeat sense of humour, he brought care and character to everything he did. He took great pride in his Ukrainian heritage, and his love of cooking was one of the many ways he cared for others. At Christmas, friends and neighbours knew him as “the Pie Man,” eagerly anticipating the apple pies he made and shared. He also had a gift for inventing nicknames—small expressions of affection that became part of the family’s shared language.

He loved nature in all its variety: dogs, rocks, birds—and, with affectionate exasperation, decidedly not squirrels. He took great pleasure in feeding the birds, even as he carried on a lifelong backyard battle with squirrels, grackles, and chipmunks. These spirited rivalries, approached with his unmistakable humour and determination, became stories his family will continue to tell with a smile.

Whatever captured his interest soon became a passion. Over the years, he embraced tennis, canoeing, biking, photography, dancing, and camping. In time, camping gave way to a deep love of cottage life—a place where he could be close to nature, pursue his many interests, and enjoy time with the people he loved most.

Once an avid guitar player, he expressed himself in countless creative ways. His artistic talents could be seen in his painting, woodworking, drawing, and garden design. Resourceful and inventive, he always seemed to find an imaginative solution to whatever challenge was before him.

He will be remembered most for his compassion, generosity, and instinct to give freely to friends, family, and others in need. His love was evident not only in grand gestures, but also in the meals he prepared, the things he created, the help he offered, the traditions he built, and the laughter he inspired.

His life was rich with curiosity, creativity, humour, and love. He leaves behind a legacy of devotion to family, as well as kindness and generosity toward others.

Visitation will be at Highland Park Funeral Centre 2510 Bensfort Rd. on Friday October 16th from 3:00pm to 3:45pm, followed by a Memorial Celebration at 4:00pm, followed by a reception.
