FOX, Robert John “Bob”
Peacefully passed at Springdale Country Manor in Peterborough with family by his side on Sunday, November 30, 2025, in his 93rd year.
Bob, beloved husband of the late Fay (Edith) Laird. Loving and devoted father of Debbie Fox, Brian Fox (Ellen), David Fox (Laurie), and Shari Fox (Steve). Cherished Grandfather of Joshua St. Louis (Annadelle), Justin St. Louis, Amanda Dunn-Fox (Brendan), Brandon Fox (Jessica), Matthew Fox, Christopher Fox, Jacob Fox, and predeceased by his granddaughter Katlyn Fox. Proud Great-Grandfather of Jordin St. Louis, Cohen St. Louis, Dallas Fox, and Autumn Fox. Dear brother of the late Maisie Allen (John, predeceased). Survived by his brother-in-law Brian Laird (Sylvia).
Bob met his high school sweetheart Fay in London, ON, before moving to Brampton to raise their family. An aviation enthusiast from a young age, Bob joined the Air Cadets and became an RCAF pilot flying Harvards and P-51 Mustangs. He was chosen to represent Canada in London, England, where he met King George VI and a young Princess Elizabeth. At age 21, Bob, commonly addressed as RJ, began a distinguished 40-year career with Trans Canada Airlines (Air Canada), featuring unique experiences, world destinations, flying an array of aircraft types, retiring as a Captain on the Boeing 747.
A member of the Port Loring Community for 70 years, Bob’s strength was his commitment to family, friends, and service. He was instrumental in the creation of the Argyle Nursing Station and was an avid fisherman and snowmobiler.
Bob will be remembered and missed by many.
In keeping with Bob’s instructions, cremation has taken place, and he will be interred with his wife Fay during a private family gathering.
