PAYNE, Robert Henry “Larry”

Peacefully surrounded by his family at Hospice Peterborough on Wednesday, January 18, 2023 in his 92nd year.  Beloved husband of Irene (nee Davies) for 69 years. Loving father of Cathy Brough (Allan), Bonnie Davidson (Paul), Shelley Courneya (Terry), and Jeff Payne (Chiarina).  Cherished grandfather of Jacqueline, Alicia (Kyle), Devin (Olivia), Kristin, Blake, Kaleigh (Mike), Matt (Danielle), Caitlyn (Roderick), Luke (Meaghan), Michelle (Dan) and Lisa (Chris).  Great grandfather of 13.  Dear brother of Ann Menzies (Archie) and brother-in-law to Dorothy Payne.  Sadly missed by his many nieces and nephews. Larry is predeceased by his parents Maxwell Payne and Lyla (nee Weaver), his son Rob Payne, and his siblings Violet, Harold, Helen, Ronnie, Dorothy, and Wynona. Larry enjoyed the simple things in life. Spending time at the family cottage that they built with his precious family. Larry retired from General Electric after 40 years of employment.  We are sincerely grateful to Dr. Morelli and the many volunteers and staff at Hospice Peterborough, along with his many friends and family who have given us support and comfort during this difficult time.  He will be greatly missed by his loving family and always remembered in their hearts.  There will be a Celebration of Larry’s Life held at the HIGHLAND PARK FUNERAL CENTRE 2510 Bensfort Rd., Peterborough on Monday at 4:00 PM.  Reception to follow.  In memory of Larry and in lieu of flowers, donations to Hospice Peterborough would be appreciated by the family.
