Roger Dale Doughty

June 17, 1944 – February 10, 2021

It is with profound sadness that we share that Roger passed away peacefully at Hospice Peterborough on Wednesday, February 10, 2021 at the age of 76. Pre-deceased by his parents Jeanne and Everett (Bing) Doughty.  Cherished husband of Joyce (Armour) Doughty for 54 years. Loving father of Leigh (Dell) and Rob (Robin). Grandfather to Justice, Samantha, Megan, Rachel and Erica, and great-grandfather to Jaxson and Mira. Loving brother of Marilyn Johnston, Donna Kelly (Jonas), Sharon Bell (Bob), Louise Powers (Terry), Clark Doughty (Michelle) and Beth Henry (Doug). Brother-in-law to Jack Armour (Karen) and Bill Armour. Dear uncle to many nieces and nephews. 

Roger was a long-time employee of Outboard Marine where he made friendships that lasted his entire lifetime. He was also an excellent carpenter and built many homes for his family and others in the community.  He was happiest working on a building project, and these were always things done with Joyce, his lifelong partner and best friend, working with him side by side, day by day. They had the best adventures together.

He loved his time at the cottage with family and friends and made special memories fishing and hunting with Rob and the gang. He loved to watch his hockey games and was a big Lakers Lacrosse fan.  Roger was greatly loved and will be missed by his family and friends. Roger was a good friend and neighbour, and never hesitated to help those around him.  He will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, quick wit and positive outlook on life.

Roger accepted his cancer diagnosis bravely and chose to spend his final days on earth focused on quality time with family and friends.  Thank you to family and friends for their daily phone calls, visits, cards, flowers, food and emotional support over the past few months. A special thank you to the palliative team at PRHC, especially Dr. Mallory and nurse Sarah.  The family extends its sincerest gratitude to Jodi, Alex, Ally, Tanis and Robin at Hospice Peterborough for their exceptional care and compassion provided to Roger at the end of his life journey.

Cremation is entrusted to Highland Park Funeral Centre.
