Obituary

KNOX, Ronald John (Ron) passed away peacefully at home on April 11, 2026, just shy of his 86th birthday. Born April 28, 1940, Ron’s life was a testament to devotion, kindness, and family. He leaves behind Mary, his best friend, love of his life, and wife of 65 years.

Ron is survived by his children Leanne (Rick), Greg (Robin) and Andrea, and his cherished grandchildren: Jack Knox (Darrian), Brennan Fry, Aly Knox (Subhan), Cody Fry (Alicia), and Tory Fry (Preston). He will be missed by extended family members Marion Livingstone (late John), Judy Post (David), Jim Livingstone (Joanne), Bob Knox (late Hazel) and Hugh Knox (late Shirley). Family was always at the heart of Ron’s world, and his legacy will continue through the generations he so deeply loved.

After retiring from the Peterborough Utilities and later Kingsway Industrial Supply/S B Simpson, Ron loved nothing more than to spend his time with family and friends. He enjoyed travel, good food and great times. He will be fondly remembered by close friends Bill Hatton (late Anne), Lynda & Al Hatton and Adele McNamara (late Terry).

Ron was a lifelong sports fan and was proud to have played on the 1961 Minto Cup Champion Hastings Legionnaires lacrosse team.  His passion for sports carried over into coaching minor hockey and lacrosse in Peterborough for many years. Ron’s enthusiasm and encouragement supported countless young athletes and helped shape the local sports community.

Ron will be remembered for his unwavering kindness, sense of humor, and the genuine warmth he brought to all who knew him. He will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by his family, friends, and all those whose lives he enriched.

Relatives and friends are invited to Ron’s Celebration of Life Reception at Highland Park Funeral Centre on Thursday, April 16th from 12:00 noon until 3:00pm with Words of Remembrance at 1:00pm
