It is with great sadness that the family of Sharon Louise Willshaw (née Austin) of Peterborough, announces her peaceful passing in her sleep with her family at her side at Hospice Peterborough on July 6th, 2025 at the age of 76 years. She will be fondly remembered by her husband of 54 years, Wayne Willshaw; children: Amy (William) and Sean (Alison); grandchildren: Logan, Rylan, Audrey and Sebastian; sisters: Nancy Van Tol (Martin), Susan Willshaw (Jim) and Carol Keller; nieces and nephews: Bryan (Paula), Jan (Katja), Jason (Christine), Jennifer (Kirk), Peter, Kelly, Katie, Sara, Emma, Carter, Jayden, Hannah, Luke, Nathan, Lennon and Stella as well as numerous other relatives and friends. She is predeceased by her siblings: Wayne Austin, Paul Austin (Debi) and Brian Austin and parents: Beverley and Angus Austin. Born and raised in Peterborough, Sharon was dedicated to educating and helping others, especially her students. Sharon was happiest when she was teaching her students at Westmount Public School, traveling and relaxing with her family, reading, writing and working in her large garden at home and watching the many birds and wildlife that visited there. Sharon was an accomplished author of young adult and children’s books and enjoyed volunteering at the Selwyn Public Library. A celebration of Sharon’s life will be held on Friday, July 18th at 10am Highland Park Funeral Centre followed by a reception. A private graveside service will be held after the reception.
