Shirley (VanSickle) Mazur passed away peacefully on January 26, 2026, in Palmetto, Florida.
Beloved wife of Wallace Mazur for 36 years, Shirley will be dearly missed by her devoted daughter Angela Jeffery-Shearer (Todd Shearer), and remembered by her stepson Mark Mazur. She was a proud and loving Grammie to Dalton (Amanda), Stone, and Alexia, who brought immense joy to her life.
Shirley was the daughter of the late Eldon VanSickle and Laura McGregor. She was predeceased by her sister Peggy Moon (Dave) and her brother Bill VanSickle.
Shirley dedicated more than 20 years of service to Fisher Gauge in Peterborough before moving to Palmetto, Florida, where she continued working with the Manatee County School Board for another 15 years before retiring.
In her younger years, Shirley enjoyed many sports before discovering her passion for golf. She was part of a close-knit group of golfers who played together weekly for many years. She also achieved the remarkable accomplishment of scoring two holes-in-one, something she was very proud of.
Family was at the heart of Shirley’s life. She loved creating memories with her grandchildren, especially while playing card games. Her warmth, laughter, and caring spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
A Celebration of Life Reception will be held at Highland Park Funeral Centre, 2510 Bensfort Road, on Friday, May 22, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, and in Shirley’s memory, donations to Special Olympics Peterborough, or a charity of your choice, would be greatly appreciated by the family.
