Obituary

O’NEILL, Shirley Anne (Crough)(Member of the Catholic Women’s League for 55 years)
 Loving wife, mother, nana, sister, aunt and friend died peacefully at St. Joseph’s at Fleming with her family by her side on Monday, June 23th, 2025 in her 90th year.  Together with her loving husband Al (deceased), they raised and cherished their four daughters, Bernadette Peters (Rick), Paula Robertson (Kevin), Heidi Irwin (Scott Boyd), and Theresa Windsor (Trevor). She was the loving Nana of Joshua Peters (Jess Hilker), Brett Peters (Dr. Jenna VanderVelden), Alec Peters (Keleigh O’Toole), Austin Peters (Natalie Wood), Curtis Robertson (Alana), Carter Robertson (Alyssa), Beau Irwin (Sarah Furfaro), Jaycee Windsor, and Katy Windsor (Brandon Kidd). Great Grand Nana of Deacon Robertson, Veronica Windsor, and the late Carolina Cole Robertson (predeceased). Survived and lovingly remembered by her sister-in-law Anne Crough and brothers-in-law Jim O’Neill and John McRae and many nieces, nephews and friends. Predeceased by her parents, James and Bernadette Crough (Crowley) and her siblings and in-laws Tim (Alice), Vincent (Mary), Carmel LaFave (Gerry), Urban (Helen), Patricia Lustic (Frank), Helen Hoey (Joe), Peter (Denise), Teresa Garvey (Fred), Fergus, Doreen Arthurs, Jack (Marie), Max , Emmett (Shirley), Paul (Patti), Colette Moher (John), Sister Eileen Crough, Gerry, Robert Leo, Mary and Frances (twins) and Paul O’Neill (Lillian), Mary McRae, Kathleen Hermer (George) and Patrick Conlon. Relatives and friends are invited to attend Shirley’s Memorial Mass in Our Lady of the Assumption Church on Monday, June 30th, 2025 at 11:00am, Monsignor Michael Heffernan officiating. There will be visitation at Our Lady of Assumption Church prior to the Mass of the Resurrection from 10 to 11. Following mass there will be a reception at the Assumption Hall, followed by interment at St. Luke’s Cemetery,  Downeyville at 3pm. The family is forever grateful for the wonderful care and support given to Shirley and Al by all of the staff, especially those on Pathway, at St. Joseph’s at Fleming. In lieu of flowers, donations in mom’s memory can be made to Five Counties Children’s Centre, SBCAN (Spina Bifida Canada), or the Parkinson’s Foundation.
