Stephen Peter Hynes

HYNES, Stephen Peter: Passed away peacefully at Hospice Peterborough with his loving family by his side on Wednesday, April 26, 2023 in his 73rd year. Steve, beloved husband of Donna Greer. Predeceased by his wife Heather (1996). Loving and devoted father to Marie Hynes (Corey), Peter Hynes (Erin), and stepfather to Shannon Greer, Kelley Greer, and Adam Greer (Danielle). Cherished grandfather to Neleha (2002), Brenden, Olivia, Heather, Nathen, Veronica, Jack, and Steph. Nothing brought a smile to Steve’s face like spending time with his grandchildren. Son of the late Francis and Amelia and dear brother of Pat (2022) (Carol), Paul (Janice), Carl (Cathy), and Karen Watt (Tom), and brother-in-law of Debbie Reid (Dale), and Linda Dodson (Dale, 2021). Steve was born and raised in Peterborough, and was devoted to the Peterborough sports community. He was a founding member of the Kinsmen Minor Football League, and served as the president of the Peterborough Minor Lacrosse Association for 10 years. Steve spent over a decade with the Peterborough Senior Lakers lacrosse team as equipment manager, where his dedication, strong work ethic, and love for the game will be remembered by those whose lives he touched.
 

Visitation will be held at Highland Park Funeral Centre on Monday, May 1st from 5:00 to 8:00 pm. Funeral Mass in the Cathedral of St. Peter-In-Chains on Tuesday, May 2nd at 2:00 pm. Reception to follow at Highland Park Reception Centre.
