After a brief but strong battle with Cholangiocarcinoma and cardiac illness. Steve passed away peacefully on his own terms, after enjoying a final laugh, his favourite music, and a beer with his family by his side.
Loving husband of Adele (Harris) for 43 years. Proud Dad to Steven Jr. (Michelle), Melissa (Sheldon), Danielle (Chris), and Kortney (Craig). The best Poppa to Mack, Ryder, and Summer, and Grandpa to Cassandra, Brad, and Angel. Brother to Carolynn.
Steve and Adele raised their family on Rice Lake, where he loved fishing, hunting, boating, snowmobiling, he was always sharing stories about life on the lake.
Steve retired from General Electric in 2014 after 40 years of service. During this time he worked in various departments but spent most of his career as a Mechanical Industrial Millwright, in AC Traction.
At 16 years old, Steve attempted to save a young boy from drowning. For this act of bravery he was awarded the Carnegie Medal, one of North America’s highest civilian honours for heroism.
Hockey was another lifelong passion. Steve coached many levels over the years, including a AAA Juvenile team which won a OMHA Championship and The All Ontario Finalists
A devoted fan of the New York Rangers, Steve’s loud “Let’s Go Rangers!” chant could be heard echoing through the room.
Throughout his life, Steve achieved many accomplishments, formed lifelong friendships, and left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him.

Please join us in celebrating Dealer’s life with a final farewell on Friday, May 22 from 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM at the Peterborough Rugby Club corner of Parkhill Rd and Armour Rd (Nicholls Oval). Memories will be shared at 2:00 PM. Cash bar available.
Casual attire is encouraged; guests are welcome to wear their favourite hockey team apparel.
In lieu of flowers, Steve’s final wish was for donations to be made to the PRHC Cardiac Catherization Lab. A fundraiser for the PRHC Cardiac Lab has been organized in honour of Steve. You can make a donation by clicking here.
