Steven Lindsay

It is with deep sadness that the family announces the passing of Steven Lindsay at the age of 47. Steven passed away peacefully at the Peterborough Regional Health Centre's palliative care unit after a lengthy battle with cancer.

Growing up, Steven had a deep love and talent for sports, playing hockey competitively throughout his youth and passionately following his beloved Toronto Blue Jays. He possessed an incredible sense of humour, a lifelong love for music, and a passion for gaming. He was also a creative cook who found great joy in sharing a delicious meal with those he loved. Driven by a remarkably curious mind, Steven loved diving down fascinating rabbit holes, thoroughly exploring conspiracy theories, and questioning what was really going on behind the scenes. He brought that same intense energy to his career in construction, taking great pride in building things that mattered and leaving behind plenty of hard work and sweat to prove it.

Above all else, he loved his family. Family was his home, his comfort, and an important part of who he was. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving him. Although cancer changed his life in ways no one should ever have to experience, it never defined who he was. He remained the same person we knew and loved. His courage throughout his battle will never be forgotten.

Steven is survived by his loving mother, Patricia Serota; his brother, Ryan Thompson (Tara); and his cherished nephews, Alec and Liam. He was predeceased by his father, Derrick Thompson. He will also be fondly remembered by his extended family, friends, and former colleagues.

In keeping with Steven's wishes, a private celebration of life has been held in his honour. At a later date the family will gather privately to scatter his ashes and say a final farewell. He will remain forever in our hearts.

The family extends their sincere gratitude to Dr. Blake and wonderful staff at the Peterborough Regional Health Centre for their dedicated care and compassion shown to Steven and our family during his time at the palliative care unit.

In lieu of flowers, donations made in Steven’s memory to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of your choice would be deeply appreciated by the family.
