Sybil (Robinson) Howarth

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Sybil Howarth (née Robinson) on August 17, 2026, at the age of 92, peacefully surrounded by family.

Born on February 19, 1934, in Manchester, England, Sybil lived a life marked by love, resilience, and devotion to family. In 1967, she emigrated to Canada with her husband, Eric, and daughter, Julie settling initially in Scarborough, Ontario. Canada became her cherished home for the next 59 years. In her later years, she lived happily in Peterborough, Ontario.

Sybil was predeceased by her beloved husband, Eric Howarth, with whom she shared a lifetime of love and partnership and who was the loving father of their daughter, Julie. In her later years, Sybil found companionship, happiness, and steadfast support with her partner of 23 years, Leo Redmond, whose presence brought great comfort, love, and joy to her life.

She leaves behind her devoted daughter, Julie Hudson (Steven Hudson). A proud and loving Nana, Sybil cherished her grandchildren, Alison Colley (Brian) and Lisa McLaren (Kevin). Her greatest joy was her family, and she treasured her role as Nannie to Brianna, Iris, and Brooke Colley, and Liam and Owen McLaren. She delighted in family gatherings and loved watching her family grow through the generations.

Sybil will be remembered for her warm heart, gentle nature, and genuine kindness. She found happiness in life's simple pleasures: sharing a cup of tea, crocheting thoughtful gifts, dancing, shopping, and creating lasting memories with those she loved. She especially enjoyed her travels to Portugal with Leo, a destination that held a special place in her heart. Her strength and determination were evident throughout her life, from her upbringing in England to the courageous decision to build a new life in Canada. She touched many lives with her compassion, generosity, and unwavering love for family and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held on September 26, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Highland Park Funeral Centre in Peterborough. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Hospice Peterborough in recognition of the care and support they provided to Sybil and her family during her final days.

Sybil's memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Though she will be deeply missed, the love, kindness, and devotion she shared throughout her life will continue through the generations she cherished so dearly.
