WEBSTER, Mr. Thomas John

At the Peterborough Regional Health Centre on Thursday, December 27, 2018 at the age of 85.   Born in Tuckersmith Township to Keith and Evalena Webster, Tom was raised on the family farm in Huron County, the eldest of four boys: David (Ruth – deceased), George (Liz), and Jim (deceased). Tom sought post-secondary education at Waterloo Lutheran and at Ryerson before moving to London, Ontario and working as a daughtsman. There he met and married the love of his life, Iris Lorraine Perry. After the birth of their two daughters, Dawn (Donovan Browne) and Eva, they moved north to Beatrice where they lived for 40 years, operating a small family farm for a part of that time. Tom worked at the Alcan foils factory for 19 years, holding many positions from working the smelter to the stockroom. After a brief period working various jobs, Tom found steady employment at a local golf course. Privately, he turned his hand to many tasks – welding, plumbing, electrical, roofing, pouring concrete – whatever needed doing, but his greatest pleasure came from woodworking. Tom designed and built everything from trinket boxes to a wardrobe before turning to the remote control airplanes that provided entertainment in his later years.  Religion played a central role in Tom’s life; a funeral service will be held at St. John’s Anglican Church in Peterborough at 1 pm on Saturday, January 19th.
