JOHNSTON, Thomas “Tom” Francis
It is with heartfelt sadness that the family of Thomas (Tom) Francis Johnston announces his passing due to Esophageal Cancer with his family by his side on Tuesday April 26, 2022 at the age of 74. He will be deeply missed by his loving daughters Tracey and Tania (Greg), and their mother Bev Johnston. He will be fondly remembered by Eleanor Bryer. Proud and devoted Poppa to Alexis, Keegan, Kade, and Sophia. Tom was predeceased by his parents John and Kathleen (Heffernan). Dear brother of MaryAnne (John), Joe (Pat predeceased), Ray (Rhonda), Jim (Grace), Wayne (Patsy), and Paul (Cindy). Loving uncle to many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Tom was an employee of Canadian General Electric for 40 years. He loved being a part of the Peterborough Community through organizing baseball, hockey, and ball hockey tournaments and leagues along with being an umpire and referee for over 50 years. Tom was also an athlete, growing up playing hockey, lacrosse, baseball, and soccer. The family thank Dr. Chris Blake, the PRHC palliative floor nurses, and the amazing nurses and volunteers at Hospice for loving and taking care of our Dad. Friends will be received at the HIGHLAND PARK FUNERAL CENTRE 2510 Bensfort Rd., Peterborough on Sunday from 3:00-5:00 and 7:00-9:00 PM. Funeral Mass will be held at ST. JOHN THE BAPTIST ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH, 300 Wilson Street Peterborough at 11:00 AM. Interment St. Peter’s Cemetery. Reception to follow in the Highland Park Funeral Centre.
