Walter Lawrence Casselman

CASSELMAN, Walter Lawrence: At Peterborough Regional Health Centre with family by his side after a brief illness on Thursday, November 14, 2024 in his 81st year. Walter, beloved husband of Diane (nee Peyton) for 49 years. Loving and devoted father of Patricia Casselman, and Dale and his wife Lisa. Cherished Grandpa of Mycala and Sullivan.

Dear brother of Norman, and predeceased by his sisters Karen Casselman, and Sandra Johnston (John). Brother-in-law of Francis (Alice), Donna Rowe (Eric), Evangeline Benson (Allan), Brian, Brenda Caines (Guy), Gary (Geraldine), Denise Owens (Trevor), Dennis (Rowena).  Predeceased by brother-in-laws Ivan Roberts and Paul Peyton.  He will be remembered lovingly by several nieces and nephews,  many in Newfoundland. Son of the late Lawrence Casselman and Wilma Bartley. Walter was a long time Member of the Independent Order of Foresters and received an award in 1996 for Volunteer of the year. He coached ladies softball in Peterborough for over thirty years and was trainer for the Junior B Pete’s. He also was an avid bowler and a member of the Peterborough Horseshoe Club.   Walter was a long time volunteer with Canadian Blood Service donating well over one hundred pints of blood and a staunch Montreal Canadians fan his whole life. He was happiest when spending time with his family and friends, especially at Pinearies Resort on Sandy Lake, Buckhorn. Visitation will take place at Highland Park Funeral Centre on Wednesday, November 20 from 11:00am to 12:30 pm. Followed by a funeral service in the Highland Chapel at 1:00pm
