Wagner, Walter Roy. Wally (Opa) passed peacefully at the age of 97 Thursday, December 4 at Yee Hong hospice in Scarborough. Beloved husband to Anne Wagner (Oma, deceased), and loving dad to children Allan (deceased), Paul, John and Jane, and their spouses Lynda (deceased), Julie and Jim. Loved by his grandchildren Jennifer, Bryanna, Christopher, Kristen, Hayden and Brock.
Wally was the youngest child of 5 and was predeceased by his siblings Dorothy, Harold, Marjory, and Grace. He started out in Tool and Die before becoming a Machine Designer at Honeywell on Ellesmere Road, where he worked for over 30 years. He and Anne enjoyed square dancing, the camera club, visits to the zoo, and until their 90's walks in Cedarbrook Park. An avid and accomplished photographer, he had many enjoyable adventures travelling around the world with Anne to both popular and obscure destinations, taking notes and photos, then creating travelogues to enjoy with friends and family. Summers were filled with days at the cottage on Brownscombe Island, building a boathouse, deck and dock, repairing the 1886 cottage foundation, snorkelling and collecting old bottles from the bottom of the lake, and spending time with family. He enjoyed decades of fishing and hunting with John, Jack, Ross, Barry, Stewart and Jesse.
There will be a Celebration of Life Reception held at the Highland Park Funeral Centre, 2510 Bensfort Rd, Peterborough on Saturday, January 24th from 12:00 to 2:00 pm.
