My condolences to the family and friends of Florence Townscend. I sometimes gardened for Florence, and though I haven't spoken with her in a few years, I had a wonderful admiration for her and her loving sister Barbara. Her vitality at even an advanced age and despite her blindness, was remarkable. I remember Florence telling me about her childhood here in Peterborough. Specifically, how she would walk to Prince of Wales school from her home on Chamberlain St ( I think): to school, back home for lunch, back to school and home again. Then, as a teenager, how she would do exactly the same when she attended PCVS....that's a lot of walking! No wonder she was stepdancing in her nineties! Florence was a kind and trusting individual, and I am so happy to have known her. Requiescat in pace.
