George McDowell Dickie

Passed away peacefully at the Peterborough Regional Health Centre on Sunday, September 25th, 2016 in his 87th year. Beloved husband of 60 years to May (nee McNaughton). Devoted father of John Dickie (Lynne) and Alastair Dickie (Michelle). Cherished grandfather of Cameron, Kate, Norah, Iain, Shannon, Matthew and Simon. Adored uncle of Marilyn Stewart (John). Predeceased by his brother John Dickie and sister Moira Martin. George emigrated from Scotland to Smithers, BC in 1953 where shortly thereafter he met the love of his life, May. After they were married they migrated all over the country before settling in Peterborough in 1978. George always accepted any new work opportunity, and over the course of his lifetime had many different fascinating careers. Aside from his family, George loved playing with his pipe band in Lindsay, and coaching soccer in Peterborough. George will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by his family, friends and all who knew him. In accordance with George’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Family and friends will be received at the HIGHLAND PARK FUNERAL CENTRE, 2510 Bensfort Road, on Thursday, September 29th, 2016 from 11:00 A.M. until time of Service at 12:00 P.M. A Reception will follow. In lieu of flowers and in memory of George, donations to the PRHC Dialysis Unit or PRHC Cancer Clinic would be greatly appreciated by the family.
