I have only fond memories of my time under sup. CLOSS. One of the best memories was you always knew his decisions were always fair. I realize I caused him some nervous moments but I always respected his judgement...
I especially remember the MINDEN Detachment ball team shirt with his name, Supt John CLOSS and your shirt with Chief Supt June CLOSS!!! I don' t think he was too pleased but he got a laugh out of it!
Rest in Peace . He will be missed!

I grew up on Cawthra Blvd. in Newmarket and knew John, June, Lynn, Wendy & Mike and have often wondered where you all moved away to. Our lives go on raising our families and now I'm married for a 2nd time and have 8 grandkids of my own. I have great memories of The Closs family, The McLeod family, The Forester family, The Swinghammer family, The Robertson family we were surrounded by OPP and that was the "norm" in our little part of Newmarket. I still remember Wendy and Karen McLeod putting a wallet out on the sidewalk in front of McLeod's hedge and having a string attached and when we went to pick it up you pulled it in and laughed and laughed.....memories are great from our little community. I'm so surprised to see John's obituary in the paper this morning and to know he lived a long life and you are so fortunate to have your Dad for so long. My Dad passed in 1984 and Mom in 1997 but all of us "Browns" are still either living in Newmarket or the area. We just all got together at my house in Pefferlaw 2 wks ago when I finally got officially married after living with my husband Dave for 32 yrs. Please contact me as next year we are planning a C.A.R.D. reunion (Cawthra, Andrew, Rogers and Denne) streets for anyone interested that grew up there. My sincere sympathy to June, Lynn, Wendy and Mike and your families.

Mrs. Closs and Family.

Superintendent Closs was in charge of # 8 District while I was in the OPP Auxiliary Unit in Peterborough and then when I became a Civilian Radio Dispatcher and worked out of the Lindsay OPP Detachment. When ever he attended the Detachment or the Auxiliary meetings, he always took time to speak to you.

When we lose a loved one here on earth, we gain an angel in heaven that watches over us. May you take comfort in knowing that you have an angel to watch over you now. I extend my most sincere condolences to you and your families.

We offer our sincere sympathy to June and her family in their loss. John was a good neighbor in PCC #38 for several years and was our President at one time. He was always easy going and of good humor. He contributed richly to the pleasure of ownership and residence in our Peterborough condominium.. We are thankful for our association and friendship with June and John.
Sincerely ............. Connie and Charlie Pike .

Superintendent Closs was my District Commander when I was posted to Coboconk Detachment in 1979. I remember him as a thoughtful and caring leader who was always a gentleman. My condolences go out to his family and friends. Rest in peace Sir.
