Blake, Deacon Richard Christopher in his 76th year, entered into eternal peace on November 21st, 2017 at PRHC. Richard was born in Hamilton on January 18th, 1942. He will be sorely missed by Catherine, his loving wife of 47 years, his children, Theresa (Sean), Christine (Dave), Richard (Diana) and grandchildren Eoin, Anna, Claire & Sophie. Survived by his brother John, brother Larry and sister-in-law Gail. Predeceased by his sister Mary (John), brother Paul (Joyce), and sister-in-law Patricia. Son of the late John and Josephine Blake. Richard was a Registered Nurse for 27 years at St Joseph's and McMaster Hospitals in Hamilton, Ontario. In 1996, he retired from nursing and embarked on second career in Building Management. Deacon Richard was ordained in 2004 at St. Michael's Cathedral in Toronto and served in Blessed Trinity Church, North York for a number of years before retiring to the Peterborough Diocese. Richard has served for the past 8 years at St. Anne's Parish. His ministry was with the elderly in the nursing homes in Toronto and Peterborough. The Rite of Reception will be Friday, November 24th at 2pm where Deacon Richard will Lie in State in the Cathedral of St. Peter-in Chains, 310 Hunter St., until 8pm (Prayers for the Office of the Dead at 7pm; Family in attendance from 2-4:30pm, 6:30-8pm). The Funeral Mass in the Cathedral of St. Peter-in-Chains on Saturday will begin at 10:30am. (Interment at St. Peter's Cemetery). All are invited to St. Anne's Church Hall, 859 Barnardo Ave., for a reception following the interment.
